Alabama Game Changers is a nonprofit, multi-disciplinary organization serving children and young adults with dyslexia and related learning differences through a neuro-rehabilitative model that bridges medical, educational, and therapeutic disciplines. We are dedicated to rebuilding reading foundations, restoring confidence, and equipping families with tools for lifelong success.
Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist will play a critical role in evaluating and treating children who present with sensory, motor, visual processing, and cognitive challenges that impact reading, writing, and overall learning readiness. This role integrates therapy with educational and medical interventions, working closely with AGC’s team of reading interventionists, evaluators, and medical providers.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations focusing on fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, visual perception, oculomotor skills, sensory processing, and functional performance related to literacy and learning.
Develop individualized treatment plans that align with Alabama Game Changers’ data-driven model and educational therapy outcomes.
Deliver one-on-one therapy sessions addressing sensory processing, motor skills, visual skills, and attention to support children's learning needs.
Collaborate closely with medical, educational, and reading teams to ensure cohesive care and consistent progress monitoring.
Document therapy sessions and progress accurately in AGC’s HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (EHR) system.
Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and data-collection initiatives to enhance treatment effectiveness.
Educate families on practical strategies to support children’s development in both home and school environments.
Utilize and navigate Google Drive tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email, for efficient documentation and communication.
Uphold all HIPAA requirements and nonprofit compliance standards to protect patient privacy and maintain organizational integrity.
Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current Alabama OT license and NBCOT certification.
Experience in pediatrics, sensory integration, or literacy-related therapy strongly preferred.
Familiarity with data collection, interdisciplinary collaboration, and family education.
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Position Overview
The COTA supports AGC’s Occupational Therapy program by implementing treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This role is hands-on and collaborative, helping students develop the foundational skills necessary for reading and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out individualized OT treatment sessions as directed by the supervising OT.
Implement sensory integration, motor coordination, visual processing, and attention interventions aligned with AGC’s therapy goals.
Observe and document client performance, progress, and behavior in accordance with EHR and compliance standards.
Maintain clear communication with supervising OT, reading therapists, and the broader interdisciplinary team.
Assist with the preparation of therapy materials and the organization of therapy spaces.
Provide feedback and education to families for both the home and school environment.
Proficient in utilizing and navigating Google Drive (i.e., Excel, Word Docs, PowerPoint, and Emails)
Ensure all documentation meets HIPAA, state licensure, and AGC standards.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Current Alabama COTA license and NBCOT certification.
Pediatric experience preferred; experience in sensory integration or school-based therapy.
Excellent interpersonal, observation, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-oriented environment.
